I just got back from grocery shopping. I bought:
- a baguette (followed me home sticking out of my tote bag like in the movies when people are trying to be French and/or sophisticated; I was just trying to minimise the number of bags I had to carry...)
- several types of mushrooms (brown, white, shiitake, oyster, enoki)
- romaine lettuce
- a small slab of coarse pate
- nectarines
- one white peach ($1.55!)
- grainy mustard
- a few cherry tomatoes.
- some bacon
The following ingredients will also be involved at some stage:
- onions and garlic
- butter
- 2 eggs
- olive oil
- lemon juice
What am I having for dinner?

salad with french vinegarette and bacon bits
nectarines and peaches lightly baked with honey and butter
pate on baguette
omelette of some sort
how good was my guess?

You guessed the salad and the baguette right, but I put hard-boiled eggs in the salad. I made mushroom soup with the mushrooms, and I forgot to eat the fruits.

I would say ditto on the baguette and pate maybe served with some thinly sliced nectarines, some sort of sauteed mixed mushroom tartine or an omelette forestiere (with bacon lardons?), veggies + sliced boiled eggs + bacon bits (?) + French vinaigrette, or some crispy bacon could go on top of that crusty bread with romaine lettuce and Dijon mustard. Bacon's so versatile it's great isn't it? Too bad it's so awfully bad for you...
Oh and the fruit for dessert. I hope it's crumble! Mmmm mmm.

Your suggestions are also much better than what I had. I have no imagination to serve fruit+meat combinations, but I did have baguette with pate. I also had salad with bacon and boiled eggs. Mustardy dressing. No crumble. :(
I think if I turn on the oven the kitchen would spontaneously combust.
